Wilder Nomad Adventure

Our Concord,NC; Greenville, SC; and Short Georgia Trip

Well, I am back and I tell you what, this year has been quite a battle.  All the RV Parks are crammed full and the costs have doubled and some tripled in costs from last year.  Instead of driving until Curt gets tired, google RV parks close to where we are, calling and getting a space, it has been google RV parks, be on the phone for up to 3 hours to find someplace that has a space free and one we can afford.  It has been absolutely crazy, so a lot of our places we wanted to go was canceled due to no spots available and the ones that had a spot was way way over priced.

From Asheville, we went to Concord, North Carolina.  Our RV spot was right across the road from the Charlotte Motor Speedway.  I really wish something would have been going on over there so we could have gone.

When we got to Concord, Curt contacted a friend of his that he had not seen in 38 years.  He and Stan coached football together.  We went to their house and it was so fun.  Stan’s wife, Nancy is such a nice lady.  It was so fun to watch these two men catch up on their lives and they laughed and reminisced and it did my heart good. Nancy and I visited and got to know each other as well.  We really enjoyed ourselves.  We wanted to spend more time with them so I invited them to our camper and I fixed supper and we just had the best time.  I know that this is going to be a friendship that is going to grow and continue.

While we were there we went out to eat with Myron, Andrea, Steve and Bebe Harrington from Albemarle.  It was so nice to get together with them to catch up and we had a great time visiting. Later in the week, Myron and Andrea drove over to the our camper and we sure enjoyed having them here.  Time always goes by way to fast when we are all together.  We always miss each other as soon as we have to part.

From there we went to Greenville, SC.  We had a nice RV spot.  We really didn’t do a whole lot because it was just so so hot and it rained quite a bit.

We did go to a minor league ballgame on the 4th of July.  We went early and with our ticket, we got to have hotdogs, hamburgers and all the fixings before the game.  Then we watched the game and the home team won 11 to 1.  We even saw an in the park home run.  It was a really good game.  Then after the game was a great fireworks display.  We really had a good time.

Curt got to see another friend of his that he had not seen in 40 years.  This guy was Jim Grkman.  Him and Curt were roommates in College at Appalachian State.  They met for lunch at Clinton, SC at Fatz Cafe.  I didn’t go this time.  I decided to let them have time together since Jim’s wife was not going to go this time.  The guys decided next time we all would meet up.  They had such a great time and I am so happy Curt got to have that time with his friend.

We met a really nice couple at the RV Park.  Shane & Christina Hitchcock and their amazing dog, Charlie.  We fell in love with Charlie.  He had the most calm and sweet disposition. They were just such nice people and we enjoyed having them for neighbors.

From there we went to Cumming, Georgia.  We were only there for 4 days, but we really had a great time with family. It was so nice to just really not do anything other than be with family.  Curt’s brother Doug and his wife Jone came over to our camper and I fixed Jone her birthday supper.  We had so much fun.  Then on Friday we went over to their home in Sugarhill and we had supper and then we played dominoes.  On Sunday, we went back to their home and they had a cookout for us, another brother Mark and his wife Lillian and Doug and Jone’s boys Jake and Luke.  It was nice to spend time and see everyone.  We really missed having the other brother Scott and his wife Kim.  I always make cookies for the boys and they always love them.

On Monday, we got up really early and left Cumming, GA at 5:00 am and headed to Forsyth, MO.  It took us 13 1/2 hours.  Needless to say, we were exhausted by the time we got her and got all set up.

Until next time……
