I know it has been awhile since I have blogged but it has kind of been crazy and I have really been a slacker when it comes to picture taking, but I do have a few pictures to insert here and there.
From Cummings, Georgia we headed to Missouri. We had wanted to go back to Savannah, Charleston and Florida but no RV spots for our size of Rig and the cost they wanted when we did find a spot was the determining factor where we were staying. So we left and headed to Forsyth, Missouri to Bar B RV Park. It was the right price and so that is where we were headed. We really wanted to stay in the park on Lake Taneycomo but again, space and cost dictated where we were to go. We of course went through Arkansas and I will say this……..Arkansas needs to spend some money on their roads. It was so bumpy it literally jiggled our bedroom door off of the tracks and broke the latch. Thank goodness, Curt can fix anything. But we finally got to Forysth and just below the RV park, was completely flooded.
We had met a couple when we were in Ashville and they said when we got to Branson to go eat at Mr G’s. All the times we have been to Branson and I had never heard of Mr. G’s. So the 2nd night we were there we went to see how Mr G’s was. It was a pizza place and we got there at around 4:30 and we were so happy we went then because as soon as 5:00 hit, the place was packed in a little bit of time. But I will say, we loved the atmosphere and the pizza was pretty dang good.
Are friends from Texas, was going to come the end of September and stay right beside us and stay for a week. They wanted to go see Jesus at Sight and Sound. Well, we certainly didn’t mind going again….it is so so good. So I had ordered the tickets so we had to go pick them up. When I went to get them, I knew Curt had not see to many shows so I bought tickets to Yokav, and The Haygoods. Let me say, we were not disappointed at all. I had seen both shows but it had been years. I saw the Haygoods when they were very young just starting out and of course now they are all grown up and married. That show was breathtaking. Yokav was so funny and also heartfelt. As Curt said when we got in the truck…..Yokav is a Russian and he loves America more than Americans. No truer words were spoken. But it was a really good show.
We also went out to eat with Dana and David Denton in Branson. They were here and they called and we met them and had a great time. Then we went to their beautiful condo and before we knew it, it was past midnight and so we left and came back to the camper. It was so nice to be with them.
We took about a week off and we drove to Howard, to help sister and Kjell. As always, we had a great time and we all worked hard. Curt built a habitat for Zippy, sister’s bearded dragon, and I sanded metal chairs and wagon wheels and repainted them. It was a lot of fun and a lot of work. Their home is so pretty and we have enjoyed helping them.
Now I do want to talk about Zippy. I absolutely love that silly dragon. He has so much personality and he loves to lay on me because I am always hot and he gets cold so every chance I get, I hold him. The other thing he loves to do is look out the front door. Sister puts a leash on him and sets him up on a stuffed coyote and he sits for hours looking outside. He really is the best pet ever.
After a week, we went back to Forysth and just hung out. It was so nice to know we would be there for 3 months. We got to know the Owner of the park and the security guard and both were so nice. We had 3 hummingbirds that stayed for the 3 months we were there. They were really fun to watch.
We decided one night we would look around Branson and so we went down to Taneycomo and then as a tradition, we went to Mr. B’s….the ice cream parlor. I will say, ever since the kids were born and every time we came to Branson, it was a tradition we walk and go to Mr B’s and go to Dick’s 5 and 10 store. So not to break tradition that is exactly what we did. Mr B’s is the best ice cream in town. Curt was having a hard time deciding.
Lake Taneycomo. It never gets old to feel how cold the water is and smelling the smell of the Lake. It always floods me with memories.
We stopped at a lookout right in Forsyth. It was pretty.
On the strip in Branson, they have a veterans corner that is really pretty so one morning, I happened to be at the stoplight and so I took some pictures of it. Very impressive.
Well, finally our friends got to the park and they parked right beside us and all I can say is that week was so so fun. We had a blast. We met them at Dodge City in the laundry and when we met, it was like we had known each other all our lives and it hasn’t changed. Tony and Robin Walczak are like family now. Tony is from England and Robin had lived in Wales as well. They met each other on a cruise ship they worked on. We heard lots of fun stories of their adventures and there was a lot of laughing and eating. We had breakfast everyday together and supper. After breakfast, we would leave and be gone most of the day. I didn’t get a lot of pictures of the things we did because we were just having such a good time, I really didn’t think about pictures. We went to the play Jesus and they loved it as much as we did and for us to see it the 2nd time, we saw a lot of things we missed the first time. It is really one of the best things in Branson to see. We went to the fish hatchery and Table Rock Dam, we went to the School of the Ozarks and to the museum. Then one day, we went to Fantastic Caverns. All the million times I have been to Branson and I had never been there. So off we went. It is really a great place to go. All 4 of us really enjoyed it. The story is Juno, the dog, chased an animal into the cave and that is how it was discovered. It really is incredible.
The 4 of us at Fantastic Caverns.
Robin and I
Robin had on a Bat hat and I am surprised I got a picture, because I was laughing at her so hard. Oh how I adore this woman. She is so fun.
The pictures inside the cave.
The week Tony and Robin were with us, Robin wanted to learn how to cook so we cooked together and she did phenomenal. I was so proud of her and she had a lot of fun learning. We did decide that Tony and I were for sure brother and sister in another life. We are so much alike it is kind of scary but if I had to pick a brother, I would pick Tony over and over again. He is absolutely a jewel and so fun to be with. I can honestly say, Curt and I really love these two and they are friends for life and we can’t wait to be with them again.
Tony and Robin packed up on Sunday to leave on Monday and it was hard to say our goodbyes but we decided it was until we meet again. We left 2 days later and we came to Gunsmoke RV Park in Dodge City. It was so nice to see Kevin and Vicky again.
It was nice to see our church family and also we got to play dominoes with Raymond and Cozy. Cozy surprised us with a beautiful quilted throw she made for us. It is beautiful and we will treasure it for life.
On October 3rd, we traveled to Colby to see the kids and to watch Ella play her last game of Volleyball. She did a great job. I was so so proud of her. I was really proud of all the girls and Tania and her best friend, Toni, coach the girls and they do such a great job. So proud of them. Ella is #3. She really does a great job.
Listening to their coaches. They won both games in two sets. I was almost hoarse from yelling, whistling and clapping. They were all so fun to watch.
Oh how I love this little girl. She is my heart as well as her Daddy and Mama.
Curt got to see the kids new home as well. It is so pretty and we are so happy for them.
Last week, Rex and Janie came over and we went out to eat for Curt’s Birthday. His birthday isn’t until the 23rd but we celebrated early. I made him a chocolate cream pie. Then we played pitch and the guys won one and we won one so at some point we will have to have a play off. We did have a lot of fun.
On October 29th, we will pull out of Dodge City and head to Golden, Colorado, to be camp hosts starting on October 31st. We will work there till May and then we will move to Estes Park to another RV park where we will work till October 8th. We are excited but I am a little nervous. But it should be a great opportunity and a great way to meet a lot of new people and to do the best job we can do. We both are looking forward to it.
Well, no more news at this time. I am not sure how much time I will get to take pictures and to blog again, but I will do my best when I have something to blog about.
Until next time~~~~~
