HAPPY EASTER!

I am so grateful to Jesus who died on the cross for us and he arose 3 days later.  Can you just imagine how wonderful that was?

Grandpo and MiMi are up early waiting on a phone call to come over to see what the Easter Bunny brought.  At 7:00 AM I am going to Dillons to pick up donuts to take to the kids. From 7:00 to 8:00 people over 60 get to shop before anyone else.  Sometimes it is not so bad to be old. lol lol

The wind is blowing straight out of the north and it is super cold and something is falling out of the sky.  Yesterday was beautiful and in the 70’s and today it is super windy, cold and snowing.

Thursday I stayed with Ella at her house for a little while so Brett and Tania could go play a few rounds of golf.  So El and I boiled 20 eggs, played and I told her to keep the egg cartons and we would turn them over to put the eggs on after we decorated on Friday. You see Ella invited us over to decorate eggs.  I  have decorated a lot of eggs in my time with Tania but this is a first time I have gotten to decorate eggs with Ella.  She asked, “why upside down MiMi?”  I said,  “that way the dye will run off of them into that little hole and it won’t scar them up.  She said “MiMi, how come you know so many tricks about cooking?”  I laughed and said, “Well because I am old and have been cooking a long time and my Grandma Workman, and GiGi (which is my mom) taught me things when I was little.”  She said, “Ohhhh just like you teach me.”  Oh this child is such a gift from God to me. Tania texted and said they were playing their last hole. Ella took my phone and texted to her mom, “Can’t you play some more?”  lol. I can remember when Tania would stay with Mama and I would come to get her, she would hide behind a curtain because she didn’t want me to pick her up. hahaha When they got home, I was getting ready to leave and Ella put her arms around me and said,”MiMi can’t you just spend the night with me?”  Bless her sweet heart we are making so many memories and it is nice to just be a couple miles from her.

So Friday afternoon we went to the kids to decorate eggs.  We all got in on the action. It was so much fun.

Friday night, Tania called me and asked me if Ella could come over on Saturday and be with me so she could get her Easter basket made and get the eggs ready.  My answer is always yes.  So yesterday afternoon Tania brought her over and I told her she was going to make the strawberry poke cake for Sunday all by herself. She said, “Well MiMi you will have to help me a little bit.” haha….so we put on our aprons and we begin to make the cake. Let me say this:  This little girl is a quick learner and she takes cooking very serious.  I only had to tell her what to do and I would show her and that was it.  She asked me what the fresh strawberries were for and I said to garnish the cake with.  She said, “I don’t know what that means”  I said, “It means to decorate.”  She said, “Oh why didn’t you just say decorate?” lol I told her I wanted her to know other words so when she read a recipe and it used these other words she would know what they mean.  She said,”Oh well I guess that is a good idea.” hahaha She did all the measuring, cleaned and cut the berries, drained the other frozen berries and made the jello to put in the cake. She also put the cool whip on top and put on the garnish of strawberries. I was very impressed and so was Grandpo (that is what she calls Curt). I got the stool out for her to stand on and she said,”Mims, I don’t need the stool at the sink and cabinet, I am tall enough now.”  And she is….she only used the stool at the stove so she was high enough to stir and not get burnt.  My baby girl is becoming quite the young lady.  It makes me sad and proud all at the same time.

She said, “MiMi please help me do these strawberries because if you don’t we will never get them all done for the cake.”  Then she said, “MiMi I love being here with you and I love to cook with you MiMi.”  She said, “We are making good memories aren’t we Mims.”  Now if that doesn’t pull at your heart strings.  I told her the story when Grandma Workman taught me how to make her homemade bread and apple pie and I said, “Now that Grandma is gone, I still have all the memories we made and that is something I will always have.”  She said, “Just like you and me isn’t it MiMi?”  Oh my I love this little girl.

When she was finished and she did a great job, I told her she had to do the dishes because all cooks do their dishes and clean up.  While I was taking pictures of her doing the dishes, she said, “MiMi you need to send those pictures to my mom because she will never believe I did the dishes.  Mom will say, “What??? she is doing the dishes???? She never does them at home.”  Then she giggled.

When we got done and everything cleaned up, she wanted to take Sadie for a walk so we did.

When her mama came to get her, she wanted to play a game of Sorry with all of us on the picnic table so of course that is what we did.  Guess who won?  Yes you are right….Ella.

When. they got ready to leave, Ella told her Mama she wanted to wait to open her Easter basket and find eggs till we got there. Tania said,  “Well, you can go ahead and open your basket and find the eggs and then MiMi and Grandpo don’t have to get up so early.”  Ella said, “Mom this is the first time I have ever got to have my MiMi here for Easter and I am waiting till they get here.”  So Tania said okay pushing back a giggle so that is why we are up and ready when we get the call. lol lol

Curt wanted me to make rice Krispy treats.  He said he wanted to learn to make them but he wanted to watch me so he would know how. lol I truly think he just wanted me to make him some.  We made them and I explained the process.  When they were barely cool, he took the pan up to his chair in the living room and when I went up there I couldn’t believe it.  Half the pan was gone already.  I said, “Curt are you going to eat more”. He said, “They are mine and I can eat as many as I want.”  The next day they were gone and the pan was in the dish drainer. lol

I hope all of your have a very Blessed Easter and enjoy every moment with your families.

    I loved this sis…
You and I both agree there is absolutely nothing in the whole wide world that comes close to our grandchildren and the love we feel that for them. I’m so glad you get to spend time with her…
